Three sumptuous blue Sapphires sweep across the finger in this Victorian boat ring, their cushion-cut outlines framed by glowing 18ct Gold. The largest sits at the centre, with pairs of Old Mine-Cut Diamonds bringing bright flashes between the blue stones. Approximately 1.10ct of natural Sapphire gives this jewel its rich colour, complemented by approximately 0.25ct of Diamonds.

The Goldwork deserves a closer look, too. Looped edges surround the stones, and the pierced setting flows into softly carved shoulders, giving the ring an ornate profile as well as a beautiful face. Birmingham hallmarks date it to 1876, a lovely detail to discover inside the band. It is a splendid choice for someone drawn to antique cuts and the warmth of a generous Gold setting.

Two cushion-cut Sapphires measure 3mm × 3.5mm each.
Central cushion-cut Sapphire measures 5mm × 4.5mm.
Four Old Mine-Cut Diamonds measure 2.25mm each.
WEIGHT: 4.1g

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold.

GEMSTONES: Three natural cushion-cut Sapphires, approximately 1.10ct total. Four Old Mine-Cut Diamonds, approximately 0.25ct total.

HALLMARKS: DLD, crown, 18, Birmingham anchor and date letter b for 1876.

EXCELLENT: The gemstones are free from chips. Fine surface wear is visible on the Gold, while the claws are in good shape and the stones are securely set.
