An exquisite pair of 19th Century Iberian Diamond drop earrings, blending sculptural grandeur with the most charming artisanal detail. At their heart sits a chased marguerite with radiating engraved petals, suspended freely within a pierced Gold frame and bordered by a halo of Diamonds in softly patinated Silver collets—an archetypal Iberian motif that glimmers with every movement in 18ct Gold & Silver.

The articulated chandelier silhouette offers beautiful sway and presence, while the two-tone palette of rich Gold against inky Silver creates a sumptuous, time-worn allure.

Handcrafted in Iberia, c.1820–1850, these earrings have 18ct Gold central marguerites and lever-backs.

The old-cut and rose-cut Diamonds are set in closed-back Silver collets, a hallmark of early 19th-century craftsmanship that enhances their moody, candlelit sparkle! And there is a customary 9ct Gold layer to the reverse of the Diamond halo- so typical of the time.

Item Details

ERA: Georgian c.1820–1850

MEASUREMENTS: Earrings are 57.5mm long including hooks x 21.5mm wide.
Diamonds graduate from 1.5mm to 2mm in diameter.
WEIGHT: 10g combined

MATERIALS: The radiating centre-piece and the lever-backs both test as 18ct Gold. Dark patinaed Silver settings on the Diamonds, and a customary 9ct Gold layer on the back of the Diamond "halo".

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

Condition

VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT: These incredible Oberian earrings have stood the test of time very well! The origianal Rose-cut and table-cut Diamonds are all present and lively, with only light age-related facet wear visible under magnification. The Silver collets retain an attractive dark patina, and the chased radiating Gold marguerites remain crisp. There is one small imperction to be seen on close inspection of one of the marguerites - whetther this was created at the tim ot was made or a later repair is unclear (see right earring). Articulations and fittings are secure, the lever-backs work perfectly and are quite easy to use!
